Rest and Reset with Yoga Nidra

Here’s a warm invitation to monthly Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Somatic practices throughout the Hudson Valley.

Life can ask so much of our minds and bodies. If you have been longing for a place to exhale, soften and simply be, these monthly practices are here for you. Through restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, somatic and pranayama, I offer a welcoming space to slow down, listen inward and gently move from constant activity toward greater steadiness and ease. A place of sense-withdrawal know as Pratyahara the 5th limb of Yoga as outlined in Patanjali’s  yoga sutras.  This turning attention  inward is by reducing reliance on external stimuli and distractions . A complete opposite from the overstimulated system of  “doom -scrolling. “ With these practices the senses rest and the mind turns within and the body goes to sleep so all systems work to their capacity of release and self-regulation . What makes us think that we can just shut off with out practice ? It would be like waking  up in the morning to run a marathon without ever walking a mile - both take practice.

Constructive rest is not a luxury—it is an essential part of caring for your whole self. These restorative yoga and nidra practices can support mental well-being by encouraging nervous-system regulation, releasing accumulated tension and nurturing body awareness.

“ When you know how important these practices are for you …you know. /your brain will thank you !” -dani

With time, they can create more room for restful sleep, clearer attention, emotional balance, better night time sleep and the resilience to meet daily life with presence.

·       Restorative yoga uses supportive shapes and stillness to invite physical and mental release.

·       Yoga Nidra offers guided, wakeful rest that helps quiet mental activity and deepen relaxation.

·       Somatics and pranayama use mindful movement and breath to build embodied awareness and support regulation.

After class, give yourself a few quiet moments to carry that sense of ease into the rest of your evening and plan for a quieter evening as your nervous system moves into ease.
