A Smile of Support

As a person who usually smiles a lot, this is the time I tend to smile more.

I am smiling for the loved ones who I hold dear to me who are very near and to those afar who I want nothing more than to give them a big Italian squeeze hug and smooch, and to those people I call my friends and to those, I don’t even know and need more support because we are in it together. I am smiling at the students who have texted me during the past week and said they miss my classes and my smile. (what a week brings ) You support me and I am truly grateful for you. Who knew my dharma talks, classes and smile made an impact. Every day, I just try to come forward from a place of being real knowing that the Divine supports me and my creative flow for stepping into life. I constantly work through letting go of any outcome during the process of conscious living even while sh*t just happens. I just didn’t count on this storm to be so BIG. So, I also smile now because my nervous system takes over and the body wants to find a way to equalize.

Everybody responds differently to traumatic events. But how are we managing constant change and living with it - it is the big question. I use Yoga & Art to get me through - both alone and collectively. How can you manage your stress? Get to your home yoga practice or start one online or go outside in nature and let this awareness practice - be the place to let your emotions, energy, and body have a chance to viscerally process getting out of your head and into your heart to let this range of emotions, circumstances and pure consciousness come out. It might not look like a classic Asana yoga practice or breath practice or even meditation practice but might be snippets of connection to universal awareness of connectivity by taking a mindful walk, having an art-making session, or cooking with your loved ones that bring in your healing awareness. We want to help the nervous system stay calm. We are in this together, so we should be awakened to how we all react and manage stress differently and acknowledge we need to manage it just like we are managing the social distancing.

Don’t distance from yourself but rather get closer to letting your breath and body have a place and time to release.

(Could be a good cry, laugh, or body shake)

I do know for certain that the purpose of living is not to live in isolation but rather to share the gifts that have been given to me as part of just being in this human form right here right now on this earth. We are love and can support each other from the heart even though we can’t hug. Start with yourself -hug yourself! What are your gifts?

What brings you joy that is simple and mundane that can be done in your home surroundings today?

Take some of this home time to reflect with gratitude on the little things that make you uniquely you. Maybe you do it now ? or you write it down and go back to it. Through gratitude, you might be watching a smile break on your face from the eternal place of just being present as a human.

We can smile and send love and light for the healing of this planet and all organisms on it so the rainbow can come out after the s*it Storm.

Peace & love & deep healing

stay connected to yourself and others
