Bring Play to Practice for Stress Relief
Halloween may be over, but its spirit of play can stay with us. What if we brought a little of that imagination onto the yoga mat—trying something unexpected, laughing at a wobble and staying curious about what we feel?
Let’s bring that spirit of play onto the mat to enable some stress to be released with yoga therapeutics practices & creative play.
At Heartful Yoga By Dani, I invite you to make room for curiosity alongside challenge. Play isn’t about getting every pose right or avoiding the work. It’s about giving yourself permission to feel, explore and be real with where you are in the present moment.
Why Make Room for Play?
When the goal is exploration rather than perfection, there’s room to get creative. A wobble becomes something to notice, not something to judge. A familiar movement invites a fresh question: What do I feel? What happens if I try another way?
Here’s the spirit I invite you to practice with:
· Feel: Notice the sensations in your body without rushing toward a particular result and work in the nervous system for pain relief
· Explore: Try a different prop or approach. Stay curious about what feels supportive and what feels challenging to move where you can.
· Be real: There’s no need to perform. Make space for effort, rest, laughter and your own experience for deep healing through yoga.
Bring the Spirits of Play Onto the Mat
Join me in my weekly classes for a challenging, curious practice with the Yoga Wall, movement and props. We can take the practice seriously without taking ourselves quite so seriously.
Let’s explore together:
· The Yoga Wall: Bring a curious mind to the challenge. Notice your experience, ask questions and explore with my guidance.
· Movement and props: Blocks and belts are invitations to experiment—not a test to pass. Explore how a prop changes your experience of a familiar movement. The body wants to do the monster mash, but sometimes it needs a little coaxing!
· Thursday Functional Movement: Our Pilates dowels can become imaginary witches’ broomsticks—a little playful inspiration as we explore together. No costume required, just curiosity.
I’d love to see you on the mat this week. Come as you are, bring your questions and leave a little room for laughter. Let’s get creative, feel, explore and be real with ourselves dropping the mask—together.
OM SHANTI
